How Inversion Fightwear Started – A Perth Born BJJ Brand Built on Quality and Community

In the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, there’s no shortage of brands trying to sell you a culture, a lifestyle, or a message. But Inversion Fightwear was never about that. From day one, it’s been about one thing: premium quality fightwear at fair prices.

One Pink Rash Guard That Changed Everything

Founded in 2023 by Bryce Nie, Inversion Fightwear is a Perth local company born out of a single idea, to bring neon pink rash guards to the WA grappling scene after Bryce noticed the bold colours being worn on the East Coast. What started as a simple thought, “Why don’t we have this in Perth?” quickly turned into a mission to do things differently.

Flying to China, Factory to Factory - Because Samples Don’t Tell the Whole Story

Instead of doing what most companies do, ordering a few random samples from Alibaba and picking the cheapest one, Bryce flew directly to China.

Why? Because he knew that quality can’t be guessed from a photo or even a sample. To truly understand the production process, you have to see it firsthand; how the fabric is sourced, how the stitching is handled, how quality control is done, and how responsive the factory is when problems arise.

Over the course of several days, Bryce personally visited multiple factories, inspected their operations, touched every fabric, examined seams, watched how garments were finished and spoke face-to-face with the people actually making the gear.

This wasn’t about outsourcing a product. It was about building a relationship with a supplier who genuinely cared about quality as much as we do.

That’s the difference between a brand that lasts, and one that just throws logos on cheap gear.

Inversion Fightwear’s foundation was built not in a Perth office, but on the factory floors in China, where Bryce made sure every detail lived up to the standards he expected as a competitor himself.

This commitment to hands-on quality control is why our rash guards and shorts don’t just look good, they feel right, fit better, and hold up round after round.

Powered by Perth: Community Support That Launched a Brand

The result? A striking, neon pink rash guard kit that immediately caught the attention of the local BJJ scene. With the overwhelming support from the Perth BJJ community, the launch gear sold out instantly.

That moment wasn’t just a win for the product, it was the birth of Inversion Fightwear, powered not by hype, but by real community trust and demand. We’ll never forget that. In fact, we’ll never compromise on our founding values, because it was the local community that brought Inversion to life. Unlike many brands that start with a similar mission but raise their prices significantly as they grow, Inversion Fightwear will never abandon the values we started with.

So… What Does Inversion Fightwear Mean?

Absolutely nothing. And we’re proud of that.

Inversion Fightwear isn’t trying to sell you a movement, a lifestyle, or a philosophy. We're not here to be your role model. We’re here to do one thing and do it better than anyone else. Make good-quality gear at fair prices. That’s all. No inflated narratives. No “tribe” culture. Just clean, functional, premium BJJ gear that performs
