Flynn May Secures Statement Win at Grapple Mania 18

Flynn May made his mark on the national stage at Grapple Mania 18, submitting Ben Mosses with a rarely seen Ruotolotine in a clinical performance that confirmed what many already knew, at just 18 years old, Flynn is one of Australia’s most promising young grapplers.

Representing Inversion Fightwear and the city of Perth, Flynn was the only Perth athlete to secure a win on the night, and he did it in style.

A Composed, Clinical Victory

The match against Ben Mosses was far from one-sided. Ben threatened with multiple deep leg entanglements, but Flynn’s composure and technical defense shone through. At the five-minute mark, Flynn reversed the momentum, secured mount off a pass, then swiftly transitioned to the back.

The finish came moments later, a beautifully executed Ruotolotine, a rare submission that left the crowd stunned and commentators praising his precision.

Flynn’s poise under pressure and intelligent positional strategy reflect a maturity well beyond his age. This was more than just a win, it was a message.

Perth’s Rising Star

While many Perth athletes took the stage at Grapple Mania 18, Flynn May stood alone as the sole Perth athlete to secure a victory. It was a proud moment for his hometown and a sign that Flynn’s rise is just beginning.

Competing in the ONI Grey Kit from Inversion Fightwear, Flynn stayed sharp, composed, and focused throughout. While the gear held up under pressure, the spotlight belonged to Flynn’s performance.
